A windy, chilly day is on the way for the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas as high pressure briefly builds into the region. Scattered cloud cover can be expected for most locations by this afternoon with a brisk westerly wind at 10 to 20 mph, decreasing to 5 to 15 mph by this afternoon. Temperatures will hold in the upper 30′s to lower 40′s over the interior and mid 40′s along the coast as colder air works in from the west.
High pressure will be in control tonight on through Wednesday afternoon with scattered cloud cover and winds from the north at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will range from the mid 20′s to lower 30′s for lows tonight and upper 30′s to lower 40′s over the interior and mid to upper 40′s along the coast for highs.
Tomorrow evening through early Thursday morning, an area of low pressure will track towards the New Jersey coastal waters and then out into the Atlantic. The best potential for steady snowfall will be focused over southeastern Pennsylvania, central New Jersey, and southern New Jersey. These locations can expected periods of light to moderate snowfall with a mixing of rain at times along the coast. At this time, surface temperatures over southern New Jersey are expected to limit snowfall to 1 to 2 inches, however if temperatures end up colder, the threat for 3 to 6 inches will have to be extended further south into southwestern New Jersey. Temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 20′s over the interior and upper 20′s to lower 30′s along the coast.
High pressure will take hold by Thursday afternoon on through Saturday morning with dry conditions expected along with scattered cloud cover. Temperatures will average near to above normal with lows in the upper 20′s to mid 30′s and highs in the lower to mid 40′s over the interior and mid to upper 40′s along the coast.
An area of low pressure is expected to develop off of the Mid Atlantic coast on Saturday night and track through the coastal waters through Sunday. At this time, the track of the storm is forecasted to be far enough east to only produce scattered snow showers, however the potential for a closer storm track and accumulating snowfall is still a threat. Temperatures will become much colder with early afternoon highs on Saturday in the upper 30′s to mid 40′s followed by lows in the upper 10′s to mid 20′s by Sunday morning. Temperatures will rebound into the upper 20′s to mid 30′s by Sunday afternoon. Windy conditions can be expected through this weekend leading to wind chills in the 10′s and 20′s.
High pressure will be in control for Monday with scattered cloud cover and tranquil weather conditions. Temperatures will range from the upper 10′s to lower 20′s and upper 20′s to mid 30′s for highs.
