The beginning of this year brought bad news to Drop Dead Diva fans. Lifetime cancelled the show. Since this was after a season that ended on a cliffhanger, fans were not pleased. The fans successfully launched a "save our show" campaign, and now comes news that the show has been renewed for season six, as per Cinema Blend.
The show's premise is not exactly run of the mill. Deb (Brooke D'Orsay), an aspiring model, died on her way to a casting call (she was applying nail polish while driving and didn't see the ginormous truck in front of her - let that be a lesson to you all. Never try to give yourself a manicure while driving). Deb did not take dying well. In fact, she demanded to come back, and when she was told no? She made it happen by hitting the return button on a celestial keyboard.
As it happens, Deb hit the key just as Jane (Brooke Elliott), a successful attorney died on the operating table. Jane died saving her boss' life when an irate former client stormed the offices. By television magic, Jane wound up working with Grayson, Deb's former fiancé. The only ones who know that Jane is Deb Jane are Stacy (April Bowlby), Deb's and now Jane's best friend, and a rotating cast of guardian angels: Fred (Ben Feldman), Luke (Carter MacIntyre) and now Paul (Justin Deeley).
Thus far this season, Jane's dealt with her break up (self-inflicted), Parker leaving the firm, Stacy wanting Owen's baby, and Grayson moving on without her (also self-inflicted). At least she's made partner? Where else will this season take Jane? There's only two episodes left, and a lot of the conflict has already been resolved. What do you think will happen? What do you want to happen? And where can Josh Berman take Jane next year? Do you see Jane and Grayson as the end game? Do you want it to be?
