Lifetime kills off 'Drop Dead Diva' (Video)

The Lifetime dramedy “Drop Dead Diva” which is produced in the Atlanta area has been axed by the cable network. The decision came down on Tuesday January 15. The series is about a shallow model that is reincarnated in the body of legal attorney Jane Bingum who happens to be the co-corker of her former fiancé. Actress Brooke Elliott plays legal eagle Jane Bingum and Jackson Hurst portrays Jane’s alter ego’s former fiancé Grayson Kent.

The series wrapped up its fourth season in September. In an attempt to draw in more viewers, reality and tabloid starlet Kim Kardashian made guest appearances in several episodes of season four. Funny woman Margaret Cho was a series regular. According to Deadline.com, Lifetime declined to pick up the tab for a fifth season. The show’s producer, Sony Pictures is said to be looking for a new home. With consistent ratings of near 2 million viewers, the series would be an easy fit for networks like WE, OWN or Oxygen.

Drop Dead Diva” sported an impressive list of guest stars from Delta Burke to Star Jones and LeAnn Rimes to Serena Williams. Peachtree City, where the series is filmed; probably has never seen such a parade of celebs not headed to Atlanta.
