It’s one thing for a fan to berate a football player on the field, but it totally crosses the line when a player is violated at his own home. Such happened for Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub. As CBS Sports reported on October 8, fans went to Schaub’s home on Tuesday evening and got on him about his poor play on the field.
Schaub has come under fire so far this season for his play on the field that has resulted in the team being off to a slow start. It’s not just Schaub’s fault, but the quarterback is taking the majority of the blame for throwing interceptions, most of which, have been returned for touchdowns.
But fans are clearly going to far. According to a law enforcement source, “a fan went to his house and told him off”, but it didn’t stop there. Pictures were reportedly taking of Schaub’s home and his family but weren’t posted on any social network. According to a report, fans “left on their own accord” and so far no arrests have been made but the incident is a representation of fans taking a game too seriously.
Though Matt Schaub has struggled, the Texans have not indicated that they are planning to bench the quarterback unless, of course, the struggles continue significantly. It does not excuse fans harassing him at his home.
