Life's plate full, change the menu

“In all of living, have much fun and laughter. Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured.” ― Gordon B. Hinckley

In today’s society everything is so fast paced. So many of us try to let’s say, measure up. We try to measure up to what society’s definition of a success is. Some people spend their whole life chasing the so called ‘American Dream’, and some people do get to where they want to be. If you are truly happy and enjoying life on that road, then you have made the right choice.

There are very few of us that do not have at least some idea of where we would like to be. You need to always remember though, that it is okay to be where you are at in life. If it is a bad situation, step back and take a look at it. Maybe you are at a certain point in your life because a change is due. Continually trying to reach a goal that you're not attaining, beating your head against the wall over and over, isn’t healthy. It isn’t healthy for your mind, body, or spirit.

As Gordon B. Hinckley said in his quote above, life is meant to be enjoyed, not just endured. Bill Watterson’s quote is wonderful as well. Many of us are so busy watching out for what’s ahead that we don’t take time to enjoy where we are. There is a lot to be said for being thankful for what we have and who we are, as opposed to worrying about what we don’t have and what the future holds.

Life opens many doorways for us to go through, and once we close one door another may open. It’s such a waste of precious time not to enjoy life. Don’t ever lose touch with your inner child. Once you take care of your grown up responsibilities go play for a bit. Keeping in touch with what you loved as a child and in your teenage years is what will keep you young at heart…keep you young in mind, body, and spirit. Maybe it won’t bring you monetary riches, or make you famous, like you had plans for in your younger years. Staying in touch with your inner child and doing what you love will feed your soul.

When life’s plate is overflowing, change the menu. There is nothing wrong with a full plate, just change the menu to something more palatable if you are having a hard time. Though your plate may have some serious tasks loaded on it, be sure to do your best to make it a plate full of variety and some amusement. Unload some of the seriousness and put the crap in the ‘crap pile’ and leave it there…don’t pull it back out.

Take a trip to somewhere you've never been, jump in a pile of leaves, get a tattoo, spin, hoolahoop, jump rope, dance with yourself, star gaze, be amazed at the beauty of a sunrise or sunset. You need to love being you, love life, embrace your inner child and never stop being amazed. Enjoy your life!
