Life Moving Forward contest - win a customized wheelchair accessible vehicle

This May marks the 2nd annual celebration of National Mobility Awareness Month and the National Mobility Dealers Equipment Association (NNMEA) is dedicated to helping you connect with wheelchair accessible vehicles, mobility equipment and disability resources.

This May wheelchair van and mobility vehicle dealers across the nation have come together to help educate the general public to one of the largest minority groups.

  • People with disabilities constitute the 2nd largest minority in the United States.
  • Over 18 million people in the United States and Canada have mobility issues.
  • 6 million of those are veterans.
  • There are mobility equipment manufacturers, dealers, driver rehabilitation specialists and other professionals in your community dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities.
  • Automotive mobility solutions are available for people with disabilities enabling them to enjoy active, mobile lifestyles.

NMEDA encourages people with disabilities to embody the spirit of Life Moving Forward by raising awareness of the mobility solutions available in the community through honoring local heroes.

National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding mobility options for people with disabilities. Their team has created National Mobility Awareness Month and will lead the effort with the support of more then 600 mobility equipment dealers, manufacturers, and rehab specialists also dedicated to expanding opportunities for people with disabilities.

They have also came together to give "Local Heroes" a chance to tell them their story and enter to win one of three custom wheelchair accessible vehicles. Competition starts in March and culminates with the handicap vehicle giveaways in May!

Are You a Local Hero?

If you or someone you know has overcome the challenges of living with a disability and embodies the spirit of Life Moving Forward, tell NMEDA your story and gain the chance to win a customized Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle. Whether you are living with a disability or have dedicated your time to helping someone who is, they want to hear what makes them a Local Hero.

Local Heroes can be defined as people who:

Volunteer, Educate, Advocate, Achieve, Persevere

Stories will be shared and voted on. Voting is open to the public and at least three customized wheelchair accessible vehicles will be awarded to the Local Hero Winners.

As Veterans, Entrepreneurs, Paralympians, Sportsmen and Champions, our representatives come from all walks of life within the community. Their stories have empowered others to get involved as they’ve made strides towards raising awareness and changing the way the world looks at people with disabilities.

Over 18 million people in North America are living with restrictive mobility issues. This is your chance to change the lives of just a few of those triumphing in the face of adversity.

The Countdown To Enter Your Local Hero has started and continues through March 10. Voting begins March 11 and the winners will be announced May 20.
