Frisco looks like any other plain black bulldog mix stuck in a kennel cage at an open access animal shelter; his chances of finding a home are limited as all too often dogs, just like this boy, become one of the 1.2 million dogs euthanized every year.
At Floyd County Animal Control in Rome, Georgia, he is only known as 14D-1299, and on July 27, he became part of the program when dumped out in the street to fend for himself. His description reads as follows:
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier/Bulldog Mix
Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Volunteers gave him the name Frisco, and tell a story that will make even the most stoic of rescuers want to help find this boy some dignity and love in his life. Terribly abused, Frisco must have repeatedly been beaten on his head and face. When approached, he flinches and closes his eyes. Get too close to his body with your feet in any sudden move, Frisco quickly jumps to the side.
"He will drop on the ground and tremble and look up with the most pitiful eyes; he is the most timid little creature you could ever imagine. He keeps his tail tucked under all the time. Even when he meets other dogs, he quietly trembles and keeps his tail tucked high under his belly. He looks at people and animals and just pleads with his eyes, 'Don't Hurt Me.'"
Volunteers state it is absolutely heartbreaking to watch this dog trying his best to trust and trembling with fear at the same time.
"The shelter is full, and he's one of my 'least adoptables' because of breed discrimination and he's so shy."
