Sparkle Plenty 7/Organism will be on display at Quirk Gallery through Saturday, December 24.
A theme of an ever changing world and life’s ability to adapt is illustrated in art by Daniel DiCaprio, Emily Watson, Hilary Pfeifer, Jillian Moore, Marta Mattsson, Masako Ondera, Masumi Kataoka and Satomi Kawai.
Canadian Suzanne Carlsen shares her jewelry-like pieces in her first American exhibition.
Without the expected materials found in jewelry, such as diamonds and pearls, Carlsen’s hand embroidery and metal works present social symbols in an unusual way.
“That which appears, upon first impression, to be merely a cute miniature, ultimately reveals itself to be an icon of memory, commemorating our surroundings, imitating our everyday life, and questioning our traditional ideas of home and place,” said Carlsen in a statement from the gallery.
Carlsen’s art will also be on display through Saturday, December 24.
