When we last saw Bridgit Mendler (Juliet Van Heusen) and David Henrie (Justin Russo) together they were celebrating his being awarded a "family wizard" title and the chance to be the headmaster of Wiz Tech on the series finale of "The Wizards of Waverly Place." It also meant that this "vampire and wizard" couple could stay together, well as long as she didn't get too hungry.
It seems that this couple may look and sound good together, as they are working together again on the soon to be released Disney movie "The Secret World of Arrietty."
"The Secret World of Arrietty" is based on the acclaimed children's book series "The Borrowers" written by Mary Norton. Mendler is the voice of Arietty, a brave 14 year old girl that is part of a community that lives under the floorboards of homes. Arietty (pronounced AIR-ee-ett-ee) lives with her parents (voice talents of Will Arnet and Amy Poehler) in 12 year old Shawn's (David Henrie) suburban garden home. The little people remain hidden from few but only come out at night to "borrow" what they need. (So that's where all my mis-matched socks disappear too!).
One night as Arietty sneaks into the kitchen to take a sugar cube, Shawn discovers her and they quickly become friends. However, this tale may not end as happily as "The Wizards of Waverly Place" as their friendship puts Arietty, her family and her world in danger.
Mendler and Henrie are not the only teen stars we can expect to see, or rather hear, as rising Disney teen star Moises Arias (of Hannah Montana, Bethoveen's Big Break, Phineas and Ferb, and Wizards of Waverly Place) also lends his vocal talents.
The Secret World of Arrietty opens in theaters everywhere on February 17th, 2012.
