Lie of the Year is an annual distinction awarded by PolitiFact.com and this year it is Barack Obama who is the hands down winner of the Lie of the Year. His alleged lie is telling folks that they can keep their own health care plan if they like it, which turned out to be a lie in the eyes of many, according to PolitiFact.com on Dec. 13.
Obama made this assurance over and over again when speaking about Obamacare, saying how it will do nothing more than improve healthcare for the folks who have none. According to the people who are naming Obama the owner of the Lie of the Year, he and his administration made the lie even worse by saying they were misunderstood.
Then they backtracked saying “What we said was, you can keep your plan if it hasn’t changed since the law was passed.” These little add-on 'buts' and 'ifs' after the fact of his promise that you can keep your health plan, all came into play when picking the winner of this year's Lie of the Year.
That was not part of the deal and it wasn’t something that anyone remembers as a “but” when Obama was busy reassuring Americans: “You can keep your health plan if you like it.” There you have it, President Obama gets named the owner of the Lie of the Year!
