'Liddypool: Birthplace of the Beatles' revised and updated for paperback edition

The new paperback edition of David Bedford's book, "Liddypool, Birthplace of The Beatles", which discusses the history of the Beatles from their experience of living and growing up in Liverpool and to be first available next week in the U.S., will feature added historical content and a new pull-out map.

Bedford's very informative book combines local knowledge and eyewitness testimony to chart every Beatles band member and lineup from The Black Jacks to The Beatles. A Liverpool native, Bedford describes facts and truths of the colorful, formative years of The Beatles. The author spent nearly a decade compiling the book.

“Most authors who have written about the Beatles write about Liverpool from their computers in another country. All of my research was done the old-fashioned way: by visiting sites, talking to eyewitnesses first-hand, collecting stories from friends and acquaintances of The Beatles, and viewing hundreds of documents and previously unseen photographs. It was a labour of love,” the author says..

Those interviewed in the book include former Beatles drummer Pete Best (who also wrote the foreward) and his brother, Rory; Chas. Newby, who played bass with the Beatles for a short time in 1960; Rod Davis and Colin Hanton of the Quarrymen; William Faron Ruffley of the beat group Faron’s Flamingoes, John Lennon's half-sister Julia Baird; former Beatles press officer Tony Barrow; early Beatles promoter Sam Leach; U.S. Beatles promoter Sid Bernstein; Brian Epstein's right-hand man Alistair Taylor and Mersey Beat founder and editor Bill Harry.

Also to be available is a new CD, "Liddypool: Who Put The Beat in the Beatles," featuring 20 artists and songs that first inspired the Quarrymen. The CD will be available from Amazon and iTunes.

The new paperback edition of "Liddypool" will be available at the Chicago Fest for Beatles Fans Aug. 5-7.
