The stage will be set for a return to the days of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack at this year’s Pearls of Wisdom Gala on Sunday, March 4 at Sailfish Point Country Club presented by the Library Foundation of Martin County. The black-tie optional event begins at 6:30 pm. and ends at 10:30 pm. Tickets are $350 per person.
This year’s gala celebrates the 20th anniversary of the foundation and Gala Chair May Smyth, with Frank Sinatra’s songs in mind, promises it will be a sophisticated Enchanted Evening of fine dining and dancing Cheek to Cheek as guests spend A Sentimental Evening listening to the song of Ol’ Blue Eyes performed by John Rinell’s “Voice of Solid Gold”.
Every living past president of the Library Foundation has been invited by the Foundation in recognition of their past service. Guests will undoubtedly enjoy reminiscing about the accomplishments the Library Foundation has made in the last two decades. Past presidents include the late Milton Christie, Stephen Shaw, James Sopko, Esq., Michael F. Ciferri, the late Robert A. Cline, Jr., Gloria Wolfe, Paula Hundt, Helen Blake, Wilford B. Brown, Patty Downing, Jack Christin, Robert Pearson and Leo Clancy.
The Foundation began when the main Stuart library was located on East Ocean Boulevard near St. Mary’s Church. Since 1992, the Library Foundation has presented special programs and events in all branch libraries for adults, children and families. The foundation has collected over $9 million, which assisted in the construction of six libraries in the county.
