Magazines and books can be wonderful material for decoupage and collages. Books can also be used for unique shelving (check out the cute nursery idea at this link), and pages from nursery books could be framed for a sweet boy or girl room. Here are two sales in Clive that may be good sources for books, whether for reading or home decorating.

Clive Public Library Magazine Sale. This semi-annual sale begins on June 5\, 2013, at 9 a.m. and continues until they are sold out. Magazines cost ten cents each and there is no limit. The sale is held inside the library, located at 1900 NW 114th St. in Clive. The library's phone number is 515-453-2221 if you have questions.

Friends of the Clive Public Library 14th Annual Book Sale

The library's fundraising and volunteer support group has a two-stage book sale. The first stage is Members Night, Wed. June 12, 5 – 7 p.m. where members get to shop before anyone else -- for the best selection! Memberships may be purchased that night, starting at $5 for a student membership and $10 for a single membership.

The sale opens to the public

  • Thursday, June 13, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Friday, June 14, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 15, 9 a.m. – 12 noon

The sale will be held at Clive City Hall, 1900 NW 114th St., Clive, IA 50325. Because the books are donated by community members, the selection is very diverse. Proceeds go to the library. The sale is organized fairly well by genre and not overwhelming like book sales held by large causes. Book prices range between $0.25 – 2.00, with reduced prices on Saturday.
