Ken Proctor, the Libertarian Party’s gubernatorial candidate for Michigan, has a plan for Michigan financial freedom. He took time during his campaign to reach out to readers of Oakland County Independent Examiner
When asked what a Proctor administration would do for economic and employment conditions in Michigan, Mr. Proctor expressed a desire to go to the root of the problem in Michigan. Mr. Proctor explained, “I would work to change Michigan’s toxic economic environment so that jobs can be created, thus improving our economy and people’s lives.”
That is one theme of Libertarian attitudes that is mentioned again and again. Reference is made to communal problems, such as the economy, but attention is always on improving the lives of individuals and their personal liberty as well.
Mr. Proctor provided specific steps to get the Michigan economy back on track. “We must reduce the size, cost and intrusiveness of government so that people and businesses can keep more of their own money, and have the freedom from government micromanagement, that they need to prosper.”
Mr. Proctor continued to weave together the three strands of large goals for Michigan, specific steps toward those goals, and fundamental political principles behind the goals. He enlarged on the principle of government’s relationship to citizens and provided a specific example to illustrate to voters what he meant. Mr. Proctor explained, “Government needs to be good stewards of the taxpayer’s money rather than squandering it as demonstrated by hundreds of miles of new and dangerous cable barriers being installed on divided state highways. “
When asked to explain the biggest difference between himself and the other candidates for governor, Mr. Proctor shared a core belief of his party. He explained, “Libertarians like myself, believe that whatever a person earns, belongs to them, not the government. The [Democrats and Republicans] treat people and businesses more like indentured servants viewing their lives, property and earnings as something that the government can take and control. I believe in a limited, constitutional government, greatly reduced taxes and the personal freedom to run your life the way you see fit.”
He concluded in effect with the Second Essential of Independent Political Thinking. Mr. Proctor explained, “The self-serving [Democrat’s and Republican’s] are fighting to gain or maintain power and control for their political parties. I believe that power and control needs to be relinquished by government and restored to people where it justly belongs.”

It would be nice to see candidates back up their position with actual data. What a candidate "believes" is not enough for me. I don't care what you believe, so much as I care that what you want to do is actually likely to help me or the people I care about. Show me data, or just shut up.
keep voting Democrate 0r Republican and we will keep getting the same crap just a different pile. I for one am voteing the communists out of office this year....I am voting Libertarian, and I pray it makes a difference for the good.
