BAM! ZAP! BANG!
Libertarian News Examiner was given an Exclusive Media Preview – WHAM! – of the cover and inside page art for Issue #1 of Boy Wonder Superhero "Voluntaryist," a libertarian-language comic book series that integrates superheroes and Voluntaryism.
Subtitled "Humanity's Last Stand Against Government," Voluntaryist is "a superhero who finds himself pitted against the government as the government tries to enslave humanity once and for all."
"I am excited that it is finally coming together," comic book creator Jaime Sherman told Libertarian News Examiner – BOOM! – in an exclusive interview. "It took a little longer to produce because we had to rewrite some of the script."
Sherman financed his first-in-a-series comic book through donations received via the crowdfunding site Indiegogo – Voluntaryist Comic Project. But because the funding came up a little short of his goal the original 15-page format had to be cut to 11 pages.
"This forced us to think quick as to whether it would be worth changing the story a little or just cutting it off early from the original script. We ended up reworking it and I think it was worthwhile. It still leaves the reader on a slight cliff-hanger, but that was our hope for this issue."
Comic artist Rob Dumo gets credit for the penciling, inking, coloring, and text. "I only performed minor tweaks," Sherman adds.
In an earlier interview Sherman said, "I plan to release the comic digitally for free." Now he confirms, "I think I will be releasing it by this weekend to those who paid, and hopefully by mid-March to the public."
Since this is the first in a series of Voluntaryist comics – KABOOM! – Sherman was asked if work had already begun on Issue #2.
"The second issue has some groundwork," Sherman confirmed, "but, at the moment, I am focusing on using this issue as a platform to sell the story to more people. Ideally, I would like to get a graphic novel edition of the back-story much like Silver Circle did for its movie."
The Entire Origins Backstory of Sherman's superhero can be downloaded from the Voluntaryist website in pdf format – SOCKO! – and the latest updates on the ongoing series can be followed on his Facebook page.
And if you're really into the whole caped crusader thing visit Sherman's Zazzle site where you can purchase Voluntaryist goodies and help finance the next installment of his Voluntaryist hero.
