Some are wondering if incendiary rhetoric on progressive website Daily Kos is responsible for the weekend shooting that left six dead and Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) critically injured.
Just days ago, the far left website posted a column -- since removed -- slamming the conservative Democrat. The author said Giffords was “dead to me” in the post’s title and comments.
Daily Kos has mysteriously deleted that post in the wake of Saturday's shooting tragedy.
Giffords’s offense in the eyes of the Daily Kos left wing community was her relative moderation: she voted against Nancy Pelosi as speaker.
Daily Kos put target practice bullseye on Giffords
This is not the first time Giffords’s opposition to the Pelosi-Obama agenda put her under the crosshairs of the fringe left’s violent rhetoric.
As uncovered by Hillbuzz, in June of 2008 Daily Kos launched its “targeting strategy” putting a “bullseye” on Giffords’s district.
The mainstream media has thus far ignored Kos's map, instead slamming Sarah Palin for a similar map with gun optic 'crosshairs' also targeting Giffords's district last year.
The media's biased agenda is clear. They routinely, hypocritically ignore, excuse, rationalize, and ever cheer and applaud violent rhetoric when that rhetoric flows from the left.
Rabid Obama supporters violently oppose perceived enemies
These are not the only examples of disturbingly violent rhetoric from rabid Obamacrats that has helped poison today’s radicalized political climate.
Last year, Obama urged his starry-eyed backers to confront those who disagree with the President’s policies – also making a veiled reference to firearms to further intimidate political opponents:
I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face. And if they tell you that, ‘Well, we’re not sure where he stands on guns.’ I want you to say, ‘He believes in the Second Amendment.’
This is not the first time Obama has called his backers to violence. During the 2008 campaign, he told a Philadelphia crowd to fight the McCain campaign with guns:
If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.
Given the passionate, protective support for Obama in the Democratic base, the President should be more careful with his words. An unstable leftist might misread the President’s intention as a call to shoot independents and Republicans.
Did Olbermann want Clinton dead?
The pro-Obama media also ought to tone down its violent rhetoric against Obama’s political opposition. In 2008, Keith Olbermann infamously insinuated that Hillary Clinton should be taken out by a man to clear the path for Obama. Olberman stated that Obama backers needed...
Somebody who can take her into a room and only he comes out.
Thankfully, no mentally unstable Obamacrat took Olbermann's misogynistic call for Hillary's assassination to heart.
Kool-Aid drinkers on the radical left will try desperately to assert that the anarchist nutjob who shot Giffords and killed innocents acted on orders from Sarah Palin and the far right. He was simply a Grade A anti-government objectivist nut and, unsurprisingly, a fan of two long dead wackos Ayn Rand and Karl Marx.
No contradiction there: even in the midst of his crazy, Loughner had sense enough to realize something that has never dawned on either the Daily Kos left nor the tea party right: both communism and objectivism are, in the end, badly disguised socialist 'get richer quick' schemes designed by and for the corporate class to divide and conquer the rest of us.
Maybe if they paid attention to that, right and left would recognize their common enemy and stop fighting and blaming each other.
For that to happen, both the far left and radical right need to try a little civility.
Meanwhile, their constant propagandizing, sexism, and violent demagoguery continues to disgust the growing majorities of the country who reject those extremes to reside instead the postpartisan center-left and center-right.

Comments
Exactly. We have to stop trying to defend the indefensible. Left or right - it doesn't matter.
typical liberal hypocrisy
Please provide proof that Jared Lee Loughner was a Republican and that he took orders from Republicans.
Or just admit you're full of crap.
What a desperate spin. Radical fundamentalist conservatives are the anti-Christ. You included.
False equivalence. There is a world of difference between using the words "targeting" or "putting a bulleye on their district," than using the crosshairs of a gun to make a point. Particularly, when combined with other asinine comments like "Don't retreat, reload," along with "we need to take our country back," "death panels," "Obama wants to take your guns," etc., and you get a group that is pretty stirred up. The Left may use inappropriate metaphors in isolated instances, but the Right Wing use them as a key part of their central narrative.
False equivalence. There is a world of difference between using bulls eyes for targeting, ala DCCC and Daily Kos and the Palin map which uses standard USGS location markers.
News reports are that this mass murderer Loughner is actually registered as an Independent and did not vote in the most recent election. I think voter registrations are generally handled through election boards, not Secretaries of State?
For the record, the Communist Manifesto is not classic conservative literature but it was a favorite read of Loughner. Other details coming out about his life and lifestyle certainly do not identify him as a political or religious conservative. Thankfully, once the leftist media sees enough of that (they are terribly slow at actually understanding FACTS) they will no doubt just go silent as they figure out that their own extremists are starting to devour their own.
This deranged shooter should be the poster child for the legalize marijuana movement.
In AZ, voter registrations are handled by the Secretary of State.
As for the literature, about about Ayn Rand? The only theme that runs through the literature is anti-government, anti-authoritarian.
You are only paying attention to the FACTS that affirm your world view, so you are hardly in a position to criticize the media.
And Revolution is not violent!
OC1, anyone who can observe what is going on around them can criticize the media. Remember, we talking about the same media who continues to spout off about global warming, or their toned down verbage of climate change, at the same time they report on supposed killer record snowstorms. Just no logic in that lot as a general rule.
So even if the sec of state in AZ handles voter reg, the info on the street is that this guy was independent and not Repub as the earlier poster mentioned.
It's just so hard for Dems and other lefties to face the fact that one of their own is actually capable of killing many that have actually been born. They tend to prefer to kill the innocent unborn. But of course, this one did take out one who was just a few years past being a fetus so they'll probably find a way to praise that act. And also to praise taking out all those pesky old people who were going to be taking up the government's time with an upcoming "end of life" consultation.
What's not mentioned here is that the dkos page has photoshopped.
The actual page contains no such Palinesque gunsights graphic.
Evidently, Jared Loughner was a registered Republican:

That image link again for Loughner's voting record...

Sanders, Richard - Explain to the good folks why you, being typical liberals, resorted to LYING?
"Loughner registered to vote for the first time in 2006, said Chris Roads, Pima County's registrar of voters. He registered as an independent and last voted in the 2008 general election."

hmm, guess Sanders and Richards weren't able to find a justifiaction for their obvious, purely partisan dishonesty on msnbc / daily kos. lol
Good golly how silly. The last time i heard You're dead to me. Dead! was George Costanza on the Seinfeld show. It's not an uncommon phrase. It certainly doesn't wish anyone dead in a physical sense. Get a sense of humor, or unpack it.
When I refer to someone as being dead from the neck up, it doesn't mean I intend to shoot them in the head. Get a grip.
What exactly do you mean? Could you explain yourself please? And why would you use terms in a leadership position that could remotely be misinterpreted as 'get violent' when most people don't get violent in the first place? Who are you attempting to lead when your followers only respond to violent terminology? Maybe it's not Palin's fault...maybe it's her supporters. Maybe if the people who supported Palin knew how to understand educated, straight forward (same thing as "straight shooter") language then I suppose she wouldn't have to use the metaphors constantly right?
Great post D.K. Jamaal, please keep getting the TRUTH out there!
Wow, I was right with you, up until your brain rolled out of your ear and you made the EXACT SAME RIDICULOUS FALLACY that you just tore down. Only perhaps worse, considering you'd have to purposely ignore even more than they did.
He shot people because he read (or claims to have read) We The Living, and Objectivists are evil 'Mein Kampf" reading communists. Right.
The 'favorite books' list is almost devoid of valuable information, and the only theme is not anti-government as someone suggested (what with some favorites of authoritarian regimes), but that this is an asinine and contradictory collection of books with 'big' and/or scary things in them that together can stroke any paranoid fantasy one could have if read improperly (or in some cases, properly). It's a reading list for schizophrenic nutjobs possessing delusions of grandeur. No surprise there, given the videos. Something for everyone, whether it's 'the Joooooz' or 'the evil corporaaaations' or 'the black heeeelicopters', or in your case, the 'scary Objectivist socialism-slavery plot!'
Republicans have extremely poor public relation skills. It's as simple as that.
Maybe if Republican supporters understood political correctness, Palin wouldn't have to dumb herself down. According to her, she's smarter than she acts.
What a bunch of losers. Your like a bunch of old gossips. Lying about him being a registered Democrat ON TOP OF this whole story being a LIE.
DailyKos DID NOT use that "bullseye".image. Wingnut smear merchant Jim Hoft ADDED the image and everything you see to the right of their article. The only thing from DailyKos here is the article itself.
