Liberal talkers Bill Press, Al Sharpton: VA scandal GOP conspiracy theory

While appearing on MSNBC's "Politics Nation" with Al Sharpton on Tuesday, liberal talker Bill Press said the scandal surrounding the VA's handling of veterans is nothing more than a Republican conspiracy theory, Truth Revolt reported.

"Let's remember, Obamacare, the Affordable Care Act is the law of the land. And the people who are ignoring the law are the Governors who won't put Medicaid in their states, or these House Republicans who tried to repeal it 54 times," he said. "This is just another big lie. But you know, on the conspiracies you're right. They went after Obamacare, they were gonna run on that this year. That ran out of gas because it's doing so well. So now they've turned to Benghazi. This is soon gonna run out of gas. what's next? The VA. I'll bet you. That's what they're gonna run on next."

In other words, the reported deaths of over 100 veterans is just a conspiracy theory, according to Press. Obamacare and the scandal surrounding the 2012 terror attack in Benghazi are also conspiracy theories, in his view. Caleb Howe went even further, saying the caustic liberal talker simply doesn't care that veterans are dying because they aren't getting the medical care they need.

Sharpton agreed with Press, calling the VA scandal a "conspiracy" and "fear-mongering," Howe added. Joe Madison, Sharpton's other guest, agreed, claiming that impeachment is the goal.

"They are priming the pump for impeachment," he said. "That's what they are doing. And they don't care whether or not it's the law, they want to ruin this man's legacy and that's what this is about. And they get a two-fer, because they can go after his legacy and then turn around and you'll see these same points if Hillary Clinton decides to run."

Madison, Howe added, decried what he called a GOP "scheme."

"It's almost as if Madison is suggesting that Republicans are engaging in a coordinated bit of subterfuge to endorse conspiracy theories in order to achieve ulterior goals as part of some large, secret 'scheme' they are hiding from America," Howe said.

Since news broke that delays in treatment and what some have said is a deliberate effort to make administrators look good while withholding medical care resulted in the deaths of so many veterans, liberals have twisted themselves into pretzels trying to cover for the administration.

Stars and Stripes reported that since 2001, a database shows 167 paid claims include the phrase "delay in treatment." The VA has also admitted that 23 have died because of delayed care, yet liberals like Press and Sharpton claim it's just a conspiracy theory cooked up by Republicans.

Stars and Stripes said that the number of dead veterans could exceed 1,100 from 2001 through 2013 according to records obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request. Perhaps Sharpton and Press believes those documents are part of a grand scheme to make Obama look bad as well.
