Liberal politicians don't need to bloviate about rounds in gun magazines

Liberals are so good at telling us what we “need” and do not need. But freedom isn't about getting what we need but quite often getting what we want. There's a huge difference and authoritarian liberals, who insist on getting what they want at the same time telling the rest of us what we need, don't seem to understand the difference as it applies to the rest of us.

The newly elected junior senator from Connecticut, Chris Murphy, bloviated on twitter yesterday, “Todays moving medal ceremony - another reminder that no one needs 30 round mags if they are used to kill kids/teachers.”

Someone should tell the ignorant senator that gun magazines are not designed to kill kids and teachers. They're designed to hold bullets to be shot out of guns used for responsible purposes. Crimes committed by those improperly using any guns with any number of rounds in their magazines are still crimes committed by criminals. No gun used in a crime shoots itself.

It's no place for the senator, or any other politician nor it is their business to tell anyone how many rounds to have in their magazines much less legislate it. Remember, politicians, the Bill of Rights says “Congress shall pass no law.” It means just that, no law shall be passed to limit civil liberties including the right to keep and bear arms.

High capacity magazine have practical uses. If you're being attacked by five intruders who is to tell you, especially ignorant politicians, how many bullets you can have in your magazine to defend yourself? If you're a championship shooter, seven bullets to defend yourself against five intruders might be enough. But for most of us, 12 or 15 or 17 or even 30 shots is a better bet at being able to defend ourselves against criminals.

Higher capacity magazines are useful at the shooting range when you're shooting at targets, and more magazines. The more you have pre-loaded, especially if you're paying by the hour to shoot at the range, the most time spend hitting targets and becoming a better shooter than spending your time re-filling lower capacity magzines.

But finally, and the most important issue here, is that it's a matter of freedom. It's a freedom that is recognized and legally protected by the Second Amendment, that says we all as citizens have the right to keep and bear arms. It doesn't say right to keep and bear only seven bullets in our magazines, it says right to keep and bear arms. If your Glock can take a magazine that holds 33 rounds then you have a right to keep and bear your Glock with magazines that take 33 rounds.

That is a right, protected by the provision that, “Congress shall make no law.” What part of that do anti-gun politicians not understand? The more they talk about limiting magazines the more the sellers of high capacity magazines will see them flying off the shelves at gun shops.
