Liam Neeson beats up an airplane in a new movie opening up this weekend

Liam Neeson has been on an interesting career track as of late. He has been acting for years, but only in the last 5-10 years has he suddenly become the go-to action star for movies where he is the lone avenger who can fight his way out of everything singlehanded. He started doing it with movies like Taken and Taken 2 where he seemed to beat up every male in Europe. Then he beat up wolves in The Grey. Now, he has a new movie out this week where he's in an airplane trying to find a murderer.

Oh, and also out this week is a movie about the life of Jesus. Because, you know, there aren't enough of those and most of us didn't get our fill of seeing a man beaten and crucified with Passion of the Christ.

Here are the movies coming out February 28, 2014:

Non-Stop - Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, Michelle Dockery. Neeson plays an air marshal on the titular non-stop flight across the Atlantic. Suddenly, he gets a mysterious text message saying that a passenger will die on the plane every twenty minutes unless a large sum of money is transferred to an account. So, trapped in a mostly-aluminum missile traveling over the ocean he has to figure out who's doing the killing and how. Reviews on this one are mixed saying that the final third of the movie gets ridiculous, but that the premise is excellent and Neeson turns in another excellent performance. Rated PG-13.

Son of God - Roma Downey, Diogo Morgado, Louise Delamere. Downey is behind the production of this movie and it's another attempt to bring biblical teachings to the average movie-going public. In case you couldn't figure out from the title, this is a movie about the life and death of Jesus Christ. While critics are saying that the production is very well done and pretty to look at, the movie is clumsy and ham-fisted in its delivery. It's the kind of Christian-themed movie that ends up, instead of providing Christian views to potentially non-Christian audiences, preaching to the converted and boring the rest. Rated PG-13.
