LI Senators join with LI Cares to help Sandy victims (Video)

Long Island Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), Assemblyman David McDonough (R-North Merrick), and Long Island Cares joined together in sponsoring a free supply distribution program in Wantagh on Wednesday, January 23rd, to help families continue to recover from the effects of Hurricane Sandy.

Long Island Cares is a non-profit hunger assistance organization with offices in Hauppauge and Freeport which runs food banks, mobile nutrition cans, and other food programs. Since Hurricane Sandy, the requests for assistance from LI Cares has increased greatly. As part of the Wantagh program, representatives from Long Island Cares distributed cleaning supplies, heaters, blankets, non-perishable food, water, and pet food to residents in need. The program took place at Wantagh Park, where room heaters were especially in demand with the frigid temperatures.

Residents who could not attend the program but are still in need of assistance can call Senator Fuschillo’s office at 516-882-0630 or Long Island Cares at 631-582-FOOD.
