This has been an exceptional year for the representation of LGBT characters and themes portrayed on the small screen and Television Academy chose to honor many of those shows and actors with a prime time Emmy nomination.

Topping the list of nominations is HBO’s Game of Thrones with 19 nods, followed by HBO’s The Normal Heart and the Netflix original series Orange is the New Black.

While there were a few snubs, most notably Tatiana Maslany for Orphan Black, the Emmy’s made history today by nominating the first transgender actress Laverne Cox for her role on OINTB.

Here’s a breakdown of the nominated shows and movies that feature LGBT story lines, as well as actor and actresses nominated for portraying an LGBT character.
