See also

There are two root methods available for the LG Optimus G. Both root methods are universal and compatible with the LG Optimus G running on software version ZVC and lower. Before you begin, your phone must be charged to at least 70 percent. It’s always a good idea to backup all important files located on your phone including contacts, music files and photos.

Step 1. Adjust your LG Optimus G settings:

Go to Settings>Security> check Unknown sources

Go to Settings>Developer Options> check USB Debugging

Go to Settings> Display> Screen Timeout and select 10 minutes

Step 2. Install the LG drivers on your PC:

Download and install the latest LG Drivers for Windows from the LG Product Support Website,

http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-LS970. Click the Software Update tab and download the USB Drivers for Windows. Once the LG drivers are installed, connect your LG Optimus to your computer with the USB cable and make sure your phone is in Charge Only mode.

Step 3: Download and unzip ZV9-ZVB-Universal-Root.zip

Step 4: Run CurrentRoot.bat

Step 5: Change to MTP Mode

Step 6: Your computer will ask how to view files on your device, ignore this

Step 7: Press enter in the CMD prompt to continue and you’re done

There is also another simple way of rooting your device, right from your LG Optimus G using the one-click Framaroot app. Simply download Framaroot.apk and install it into your phone and select SuperSU/Gandolf to root. It’s compatible with the following list of LG Optimus devices:

  • LG Optimus G E970/E975
