A line of truly revolutionary gadgets has been introduced to consumers by LG Electronics. Combining Smart ThinQ™ technology and its new Home Energy Management System (HeMS), the company has come out with a line of smart gadgets that will not only give consumers a better and more convenient way to manage their household chores, but be able to save big in the energy use department, as well. The HeMS appliance line was first previewed at last year’s CES, and has a come a long way since then.
The LG Smart Fridge.
Let’s say you’re out of milk and know you need something else but you can’t remember what it is. Well, ask the fridge. The LG Smart Fridge is a large-capacity French-door refrigerator and has an abundance of “smart” features that include ones that keep track of what groceries are inside, where they are located, and when they will expire. It will tell you what you can make with what’s in the fridge, and help you maintain your diet. You can access everything from the LED display panel or from your phone, which can be especially convenient if you’re already at the grocery store. Profiles for each person in the house can cater to their food preferences, and all of it can be controlled by voice recognition.
Here’s a couple of other fridge-feature scenarios: You’re having people over for dinner and forgot to chill the wine. No worries; the fridge has a feature called the Blast Chiller that can chill a bottle of wine in eight minutes. If you go to get a (diet) soda and it’s not cold (and you have to have it cold), so what? Stick one in the Blast Chiller and it’ll be ice cold in less than five minutes. The Blast Chiller won the CES 2012 “Best of Innovations” Award. Pretty smart for a fridge.
The LG Smart Hom-Bot Vacuum Cleaner.
What would a smart house be without a robotic vacuum cleaner? The Hom-Bot is LG’s advanced robotic vacuum cleaner that lets you do your vacuuming (automatically, if you wish) quicker and with more cleaning precision. It’s only 3.5 inches tall, so quiet (50 decibels) that you can do other things while it’s vacuuming. You can look at anything that’s going on in the room via the dual-eye cam, and do it from your phone. You don’t even have to pick up that marble before it’s vacuumed up: The Hom-Bot will just go around it. The vacuum cleaner can be programmed from your phone to start or stop any time you need to vacuum.
The LG Smart Washing Machine.
Ewww, what’s that stain on your shirt? Don’t worry about it; the LG Smart washing machine will handle it. From delicates to comforters, the washing machine can download new wash cycles to deal with specific laundry stains. If something goes wrong, it will tell you all about it, via Wi-Fi connection. It has nine washing programs, five temperature settings, and six different wash motions that ensure gentle handling of your clothes. It even has a Baby Sanitize wash cycle that you can download through your smart phone or the LED display panel. Pop-up messages on your phone can tell you when your laundry’s done.
The LG Smart Oven.
It’s Thanksgiving, your in-laws are coming for dinner, and you want the turkey to be perfect. No problem; you don’t even have to worry about watching for the little red thing to pop out of the turkey. The LG Smart oven can download the best cooking instructions for anything you’re cooking and tell you when it’s done. You can send any cooking time information from your smartphone right to the oven; the oven has an auto-cooking function. The oven can take instructions as to how to cook what for how long from the fridge, as well.
From cooking to shopping to doing laundry or vacuuming the floor, LG has it covered. With LG’s home management system, you can have device-to-device connectivity (through the internet) that will ensure keep your home running in tip-tip shape all year long, all the while conserving more energy than you did with any of your previous appliances.
And that’s smart.
