Leyline Phantom is one of the newest "Magic: The Gathering" cards spoiled today Jan. 10, 2013 from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert expansion set "Gatecrash." Revealed on the card image gallery of MagicTheGathering.com, Leyline Phantom can be a powerful common creature in limited decks.

Blue has always had large common creatures with drawbacks, ever since "Alpha" with Sea Serpent. While limited formats didn't exist back then, the tradition of printing large blue creatures at the common rarity with a large drawback that prevents them from being an effective attacker has carried on. They fill a great role in limited formats, where they serve dual purposes as an effective blocker with the potential to transform into a threat.
Leyline Phantom's drawback is actually a boon in Simic Evolve decks. Leyline Phantom can help grow Cloudfin Raptor, Experiment One, and Elusive Krasis larger by attacking or blocking with it and then replaying it again.
