Lexus HS going the way of the dodo?

The month of March brings some interesting revelations in terms of hybrid sales at the Lexus division. The first Lexus model offered as a hybrid only affair was the HS 250h, a rather frumpy looking sedan that seemingly failed to impress customers in a meaningful way with 2010 sales of only 3,453. For the month of March, Lexus only shifted 230 HS models. Those sales numbers right down there with the gutter with the smart fortwo!

Lexus CT 200h

Just arriving on the scene this year is a much more pleasing hybrid Lexus called the hatchback CT 200h. For the month of March a whopping 2,199 CTs were moved out the door. To be sure there is some amount of pent-up demand anytime a new model hits the showroom floor and the fact that the CT starts at about a cool six grand less than the HS certainly helps the cause as well. However, I believe the CT will continue to pound the HS on the sales dance floor thanks to its more appealing design. What do you think?
