When the WWE announced that the 4 Horsemen were going to be inducted into this year's HOF class, many longtime fans were upset that the WWE chose to induct Barry Windham instead of Ole Anderson as the 4th wrestler. However, lost in the frustrations over Ole being left out, is the fact that Lex Luger was left out as well. Luger was the first member to replace Ole Anderson after he was booted out of the group. According to a Tuesday January 17th report by WrestleZone.com, the reason why the WWE decided to ignore Lex Luger's participation in the Horsemen stems from the role that Luger played in the 2003 death of Miss Elizabeth.
Apparently, the WWE feels that there's still too much negativity surrounding Luger's role in Elizabeth's death. On April 19th, 2003, Luger was arrested as the result of a domestic dispute between he and Elizabeth. A few days later, Luger was arrested for a DUI. Both Luger and Elizabeth, real name Elizabeth Hulette, had serious problems with drugs. On May 1st 2003, Elizabeth was found dead and Luger was arrested as numerous drugs were found in their townhouse. Although Elizabeth's death was ruled accidental, many believe that it was Luger who enabled her drug problems and ultimately played a role in her death.
Despite overcoming his demons and cleaning up his life, the WWE still feels that Luger is still "untouchable" when it comes to the WWE HOF. For more on WrestleZone's report, click here.
