Lex Luger is out promoting his new book "Wrestling with the Devil" and spoke to Power Slam about his current role. According to Wrestle Zone on Sept. 30, Luger said in the interview that he is still working with the WWE.
Luger said that his work with the WWE is all behind-the-scenes and "informal." According to Luger, he shows up when the WWE calls him to talk to younger talent about the things they shouldn't do when they are in the big leagues.
Through much of his wrestling career, Luger was using steroids, although he said that he did not use then in the WWE because the drug testing was very strict at the time. He said the "white coats" would show up and test wrestlers sometimes four nights in a row.
However, Luger's talks with talent is also about how to act while in the spotlight. Luger was arrested for a DUI in 2003, around the same time he was accused of domestic abuse with his girlfriend Miss Elizabeth. In 2003, Miss Elizabeth died of a drug overdose and Luger was arrested on drug charges.
In 2007, years of abuse to his body led to a spinal stroke that left him a paralyzed quadriplegic. By 2010, Luger was able to walk once again. He has since been born again and said he enjoys working with the young wrestlers, hoping to help them avoid his mistakes.
