According to the Canadian Press on Wednesday, Calgary Stampeders' wide receiver Nik Lewis has been fined for criticizing officials following the Stampeders' 27-13 victory over the Edmonton Eskimos at Commonwealth Stadium on Friday.
Lewis, who did not play in the game because of a leg injury, used social media to express his criticism. There is not anything overly controversial on Lewis's twitter account at the moment, but on Monday Lewis tweeted the following, "I understand I hurt some people's feelings by my comment. But the fact that I know football thru and thru makes this horrible."
This has not been the first time Lewis has written a controversial tweet. Last year, Lewis wrote "I just bought OJ's gloves on eBay. Now all I need is a white girl named Nicole."
The Stampeders next play the Saskatchewan Roughriders Saturday at McMahon Stadium and Lewis hopes to play in his first game since breaking his fibula in a 26-22 loss to the British Columbia Lions on August 17. With Lewis out of the lineup, the Stampeders are 8-1.
