Levy named Canadian chef de mission at 2014 Youth Olympic Games

According to the Canadian Olympic Committee in a press release on Thursday, former Canadian field hockey player Sandra Levy has been named Canada's Chef de Mission for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China from August 16-28.

Levy, from Toronto, Ontario, represented Canada in women's field hockey at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul to a sixth place finish and the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona top a seventh place finish. She is also a two-time medalist at the Pan American Games, having won silver in 1991 in Havana and 1987 in Indianapolis.

Currently the senior vice president of human resources for Ply Gem Canada in Calgary, Levy is also a lawyer and worked extensively in Toronto's bid for the 2008 Olympic Games. She has also done extensive work in the past to raise awareness of racism in sports.

Levy was named to the position by Canadian Olympic Committee president Marcel Aubut, who recognized her passion and experience.
