Gregory D. Tripp, 36, of 15 Rock Lane, was arraigned Sept. 2 and released without bail during a court appearance at First District Court in Hempstead. A judge also ordered that he not contact the victim.
His arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred on the morning of Aug. 21, when he allegedly went to the victim’s home on Carmans Road in Farmingdale. According to detectives, the victim – a 32-year-old woman – was standing in her driveway as Tripp approached the house.
Police said Tripp was yelling and pushed the woman into her home as they became involved in a confrontation. The victim reportedly suffered a minor scrape to her arm before convincing Tripp to leave.
Cops said he punched both side view mirrors, shattering them, on the victim’s 1998 BMW.
The woman reported the incident to police the next day. Tripp arranged to surrender himself on Sunday night.
He was charged with third-degree and fourth-degree criminal mischief, as well as third-degree menacing.
Tripp is due back in court on Sept. 12.
