Even though Sunday is New Year's Day, there will still be a new Leverage episode, "The Gold Job," and it's going to feature someone else on the team taking the lead on the con.
"The Leverage team hits the recession-driven Cash-for-Gold industry by targeting a corrupt brother-sister team and steering them through an elaborate treasure hunt."
Leverage spoilers: Hardison taking charge in "The Gold Job"
The promo (watch here) begins with Nate getting word of the job. The woman wishes she had the necklace back. She shouldn't worry though, with this team on the case…or should she? Nate's not taking the lead on this one. No, that job falls to Hardison, who hasn't been shy in the past (or here) about his desire to lead his own team. However, Nate's "Oh no" seems like it's just foreshadowing the job. While Hardison's all confident ("You're just jealous of the puppet master"), things aren't going so well. It looks like one woman makes them as conmen, and as Nate tells Eliot, "This is what I was afraid of."
Will Nate have to step in to make this a successful con, or will Hardison pull himself together by the end of the job? Will this just be another instance which shows why this team does what it does best when everyone's doing what they do best. Hardison's hacking skills have come in very handy in the past, and for now, it seems like that's where he belongs: behind the computer. After all, it is the "age of the geek, baby!"
