Two weeks ago, we had fun with the Letter H.  We skipped a week for the holidays, but are back on track with the letter T.

Some words that begin with the letter T are:  train, two, touch, tambourine, T-Rex, tomato, tree, toad, tickle, tie, teeth, teacher, tiger, toys, time, turtle, triangle, truck, and travel.

Menu:

- Toast
- Tangerines
- Tacos (setup a taco station so the children can make their own tacos).
- Turkey or tuna with tomato on tortillas
- Tortellini
- Tofu
- Tilapia

 Math & Science:

- Check out Green Olives & Ham for a File Folder Turkey Match Game.

- Read the Tooth Book by Dr. Seuss.  Talk to the children about teeth and who does and doesn't have teeth.  Incorporate the letter "T" when you discuss teeth such as a turtle doesn't have teeth and neither does a toad, but a tall T-Rex does have teeth.

- Draw or print numerous tomatoes or other T item.  Write numbers on them and have the children put them in numerical order.  You could also hide the pictures and have the children go on a scavenger hunt, then put them in numerical order.  Talk with the children about ways that they can work together as a team while doing the scavenger hunt.

- Use different sized pictures of T items (such as different sized triangles) and have the children put them in order by size.

- Fill a basket or sensory table with toilet tissue.  Hide items in there and ask the children to touch an item and try and guess what the item is by touch only.  You could also hide items under a towel and have the children try and determine what is under there by using their sense of touch.

Arts & Crafts:

- Make a clock out of a paper plate and talk about T is for time.  See the slideshow for an example.

- Check out DLTK for some toilet roll crafts, including this toilet roll tinman and a toilet roll tiger.

- Print some letter T coloring pages at apples4theteacher.com.

- Cut out multiple sized triangles or have the children cut if age appropriate.  Then ask the children to glue them together from smallest to largest to make a tree.  Include some upper case and lower case T's that the children can use as decorations.

Pretend Play:

- Setup your dramatic play area as a transportation station.  Include many toy trucks, trains, and tractors, as well as, a conductor's outfit or farm clothes for the children to dress up in.

- Setup your dramatic play area as a town with cardboard houses and stores, as well as, your toy trucks, trains, and tractors.

- Setup your dramatic play area as travel and include suitcases, tickets, maps, traveler checks, and travel magazines.

- Have a "tag sale".  Ask each child to look around the room and find items that they would like to "sell".  Add tags to the items and determine how much they would like to put on the tag.  Give the children play money so they can buy some of the items that their friends are selling.

Music & Movement:

- Setup a tunnel for the children to crawl through.

- Sing some of these letter T songs at Everything Preschool.

- Take out the tambourines and triangles so the children can play instruments while singing and dancing.

Books:

- The Tooth Book by Dr. Seuss (writing as Theo Lesieg)

- Big Truck and Little Truck by Jan Carr
