Last week, we worked on the letter O. This week we're jumping back a few letters with the letter J.
Some words that begin with the letter J are: juice, jingle, jar, jet, jolly, joke, jukebox, jelly, jacket, jack-in-the-box, jack o' lantern, jacks, jaguar, jam, jamboree, janitor, jaw, jeep, and juggle.

Circle Time:
- Talk about and show pictures of the planet Jupiter, which is the fifth planet from the sun and is the largest planet in the solar system.
Math & Science:
- Hide photos of different animals (include some jungle animals) around the room. Have the children go on a scavenger hunt to find the photos of the jungle animals or letter "J" animals.
- Play a game of Bingo using jungle animal clipart.
Arts & Crafts:
- Create a journal with blank pages that your child can draw or write in. Let them decorate the cover with stickers, crayons, glitter, and other embellishments.
- Create a jukebox using a cardboard box. Have the children decorate it with pictures, label it with children's music, and add buttons so they can select songs.
- Print coloring pages of jungle animals for the children to color.
- Use paper towel or toilet paper rolls and make a jungle animal such as a zebra or giraffe.
- Make jungle animal masks using paper plates, markers, or paint.
Pretend Play:
- Turn your dramatic play area into a jewelry shop with costume jewelry, home made jewelry displays (using a cardboard box or paper towel roll), a cash register, and play money.
Music & Movement:
- Play some children's jazz music.
- Put a jump rope on the floor in the letter J shape and have the children practice jumping over it.
- Act out the Jack and Jill nursery rhyme.
