Get ready for a night of music, dance, theatrics, circus arts, ballroom dancing, midway gaming, mischief, and, of course, the art and stories of Edward Gorey! This year's show will feature: a fashion show by Dark Garden Corsetry, DJs Delachaux, Shakti Bliss, The Klown, Malvoye The Mentalist, Shovelman, Speakeasy Syndicate, The John Bros. Piano Company, our Famous Portrait Booth,, Gorey-fied Fine Art and Installations, ballroom dancing, Absinthe Bar (and full bar!). Dinner menu available and of course… lots of parking!
You just have provide your own transport and pay for parking at the Fonda Theatre. The tickets does not include beverages or food.
The topic of this ball is "The Curious Sofa" which was written by Ogdred Weary, an anagram for Edward Gorey. Although labeled a "pornographic illustrated story about furniture" the illustrations are by even the standards of the 1960s tame. The innuendos might have made a historical Edwardian or Victorian faint (at least in polite public) but Gorey Edwardians will likely embrace the naughtiness.
The Fonda Theatre is a historic 1920's venue originally built as Carter De Haven's Music Box and is formerly known as The Henry Fonda Theatre and The Music Box. One of Hollywood's first legitimate theatres, the Henry Fonda Music Box Theatre experienced a variety of incarnations during the 1920's, 1930's and 1940's as part of an entertainment district of exceptional quality and diversity. The Fonda Theatre is an all ages venue.
