Let the madness begin

What did you think, an MMA writer couldn't write or talk about college basketball? Please. With the March Madness tourney kicking off tonight I can not wait for this weeks action. SO what tonight is technically play in games and the real madness does not start until Thursday. Tonight I want to see St. Mary's vs Middle Tennesse St. tonight. The St. Mary Gale's have only lost to one team since Christmas, to number one seed Gonzaga. The Gale's have something to prove and believe they can go a far way in the tournament.

Once the first round ends and we get to the final 64 teams who do you got? With this year being wide open for anybody as the experts like to say, I have come up with about 5 teams that I think has a chance to win the whole thing. Other so called experts will give you a list of 20. SO who are my top 5 in no particular order, Indiana, Duke, Miami, Ohio State, and sleeper New Mexico. Each team brings a different style of play that makes it difficult on their opponents. I think with Indiana's guard play and efficient offense they have the best chance at winning the entire tourney.

While there has not been one dominant mens team this year another factor that must be considered is defense. Like the old saying goes, "Defense wins championships." Defensively speaking I like Coach K's Duke Blue Devil's led by Seth Curry to turn it up this tournament.

As we all know the first weekend can be very exciting with upsets and half the country will have torn up their bracket sheets. Maybe a few of my top 5 may even lose this weekend. Then again that's why we love March Madness, because you never know what could happen.
