If your child or young adult is interested in planes or flying, there is an event coming up that you will not want to miss. The chance to take a ride in an airplane and experience the joy of flight is what is being offered by the organization Challenge Air. Their organization’s goal is to bring some fun into the lives of special needs kids and young adults by sharing the joy of flight. Our community of special needs families is invited to take a joy ride in some privately owned airplanes (and experienced pilots) with this group on October 19. It’s an amazing experience to get to fly with these pilots and the experience that the kids have is priceless.
Before getting on board, the passengers/co-pilots will be given safety instructions and a brief introduction to the plane they will be flying in. Be aware that these planes are loud so if that is an issue for you and you are planning to come out, bring your “ear hats” to help keep the noise level controlled. Once everyone is ready, the pilot and their passenger will head for the sky to fly around the Conroe area for a while. Some kids might even get to fly the plane for a bit if the conditions are right.
Getting to go up in one of these planes is thrilling adventure and the ride of a lifetime, but you’ll have to register on their website before you go. They have to know how many people are coming so they can make sure everyone gets a turn to fly.
