Let's celebrate our nation's birth with some S'mores pie

There is a pretty interesting July 4th dessert I find to be quite delicious. That is right, when you celebrate your Independence Day, take a bite out of the soon-to-be-summer hit, the S’mores Pie.

Graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate make the perfect combination when roasting over a campfire and under the fireworks on America’s favorite holiday. Just the thought of this treat screams the taste of America, but have you ever thought of turning this gooey treat into a pie? Well, keep that happy thought in your head and a smile on your face because the classic combination of graham cracker, chocolate and toasted marshmallows are fantastic in a pie.

Here is what you will need:

  • Graham cracker crust – one used the larger size
  • Two boxes of chocolate cook and serve pudding
  • Nutella – about one-fourth cup
  • Marshmallow cream – about half a cup
  • Mini marshmallows – about three-quarters of a cup

Make the pudding according to the directions on the package. While it chills, slather a layer of marshmallow cream in the bottom of the pie crust. Sometimes, you might hit a little trouble with the marshmallow pulling up the crust in places. However, just be careful and it is okay if it is not an even layer of marshmallow cream. Spread the Nutella over the top of the marshmallow.

Drizzle the chocolate pudding into the pie crust. Let the pudding cool for about 10 minutes or so. Scatter the mini marshmallows over the top, so all the pudding is concealed. Place the S’mores pie under the broiler just until the marshmallows are toasted. Look at it close so you do not burn them. Cool the pie and then cover and refrigerate.

This pie is simple to make and the toasted marshmallows make it a little different and extraordinary. Happy Independence Day!
