Let it snow at The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch: The perfect holiday stay

The weather outside in Vail Valley is anything but frightful this season but the fire is quite delightful at the most luxurious escape around. The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch recently completed a $15 million renovation program to refresh and enhance the property’s already unique mountain lodge décor, now making everything about this destination aglow—especially after the 2013 Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in support of the Children’s Hospital Colorado illuminated the resort.
The ceremony took place on November 30th and included a sing-along caroling performance, cookie decorating for kiddos, a visit from Santa, smores and of course concluded with the sparkling tree lighting finale at dark. The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch has found a way to perfectly marry posh living with family friendly cuteness. And for guests this season who come to experience all the new improvements, there are two aspects to a fulfilled stay here that make this mountain retreat shimmer—Colorado skiing Ritz-Carlton style and warming up in their decadent spa…

The property’s spa setting is naturally beautiful and offers an extensive menu of therapeutic and wellness services. A spa day here is Rocky Mountain living at its finest with caringly crafted treatments offered in a soothing environment; a must-try is the Hot Toddy for the Body. This luxurious scrub, containing sweet almond oil, jojoba beads and shea butter with the aromatic spices of cinnamon and nutmeg, is massaged into the skin to eliminate dry patches and relax muscles. A hydrating massage completes the experience and of course guests must visit the famous Grotto.

The Grotto features a sauna, aromatic steam room, whirl pool and cold plunge pool all to help guests rejuvenate. This amenity is even available without a spa service and some evenings are designated for family nights. A recommended Grotto Circuit is below for those looking to maximize the effects. Be sure to drink plenty of water before, during and after your session and shower beforehand priming the skin to release toxins:

1. Sauna 5-6 minutes
2. Cold plunge 1 minute (submerge to neck to stimulate thyroid)
3. Relax 1-2 minutes (normalize body temperature, sip water)
4. Steam Room 5-6 minutes
5. Cold plunge 1 minute
6. Relax 1-2 minutes
7. Whirlpool 5-6 minutes
8. Cold plunge 1 minute
9. Shower- finishing rinse, or repeat circuit

But for those looking to stick to the slopes, the unmatched ski-in, ski-out access on Beaver Creek Mountain and the renowned Ski Valet service at The Ritz-Carlton creates personalized and memorable adventures for guests. From expert ski tuning, to trail planning, to even offering complimentary boot warming while you take a lunch break, the ski valet will create a one-of-a-kind ski experience.
With more to come on the exciting new offerings at this Rocky Mountain gem, this destination is a must-see and will most likely become an annual retreat for couples or families who are looking for that something special. So whether you’re looking to have a pet-friendly getaway in the mountains, a weekend of stellar skiing or simply sipping some cocoa by the renovated Great Room’s fire—let it snow this holiday season…
