The Bible can be described as God’s love letter to man and in fact God is love (1John 4:8). It doesn’t take a Bible scholar to know that God wants us to love each other. Jesus said “a new commandment I give unto you that you love one another even as I have loved you”(John 14:32)
The Bible also says that if we claim to love God and hate our brother then we are liars because how can we hate our brother whom we see and love God whom we can’t see? (1 John 4:20). By now the picture must be getting a little clearer but what exactly is love? Is it smiling and hugging? Is it being polite and caring? Well, yes those things certainly are a part of love. But as born-again Christians we now have the actual love of God shed abroad in our hearts (Romans 5:5). God’s love is powerful! It cannot truly be understood. As a matter of fact it is beyond our human capability to fully comprehend it; instead we grow in knowledge of it day by day year by year. You see being a Christian is a lifelong experience. Yes it is true that when we get saved or become born-again we start our personal relationship with God and our sins have been forgiven through our Lord Jesus Christ but growing in love is a continual process that comes from living out our daily lives in our walk with God. So true love is not just words but action! Jesus is our perfect example, he talked about love but he also lived it everyday of his life! The Bible says that if we find our brother in need and we say to him “go and be warm and fed” and do nothing about it we actual are sinning. Why? Because love is also an action. Can you imagine if Jesus only spoke and never did anything? This kind of behavior wouldn’t intimidate the devil. In the same respect we need to live by our words. The Bible says to love not in word only but in deed and in truth (1 John 3:18)
It was the love of God that sent his son into the world to pay the price for sin to set all men free! Try and comprehend that! For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life! (John 3:16) That’s God’s love!
We need to learn to pray to God regularly for wisdom that leads to action that the world can see and feel. This is not accomplished by our human effort alone but instead by letting the spirit of God love through us. Jesus said that he did nothing of himself but instead it was the father in him that done the works, so it is also with us (John 14:10).We need to let God love through us. There is a beautiful Bible verse that says "let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven. (Matthew 5:1).
Let this Christmas be the best Christmas of your life open your heart to our loving Saviour Jesus Christ. His love will change your life forever! God bless you friends!
