After spending forty years on the frontlines of politics, at least two key lessons have remained as immutable truths. Never trust a politician, period. And in particular run as fast as you can to get away from a politician who makes false promises just to get elected.
"But," you protest, "They all do that."
Well, no. While it is true that in modern America most politicians have proven themselves to be untrustworthy, not all tell a series of one lie after another just to get elected so that they can unleash the fury of a hidden agenda.
Only a few presidents have engaged in such blatant deception, some of whom are Woodrow Wilson, FDR, and LBJ.
Nixon, for example, lied. And he certainly proved that he was basically untrustworthy in his role as president. But there is no proof whatsoever that Nixon deliberately campaigned on falsehoods. The falsehoods came after the he was elected, especially after his second campaign, when he attempted to cover up and make excuses for lawlessness on the part of members of his administration.
Obama, on the other hand, campaigned for one thing but then did another once he got elected. This means that not only is the president a liar but a sinister one with ulterior motives.
It is one thing to get caught in illegal acts and then lie to try get out of it. It is quite another to develop an elaborate array of lies designed to hide one's true motives -- motives that are so despicable to a majority of the public that the person would never get elected if the people were fully aware of those motives at the outset.
Why would one think that it is of utmost importance to pose as someone other than their true self if not in order to fool the public into sending them to office, only to discover later that the individual in question did not believe for one moment what he was selling to the voters?
The term "ulterior motives" comes to mind. So does "charlatan." So does "a grave danger."
The latter term suggests that any politician who will go to great lengths to hide their true motives and their real plan for the country is a grave danger to the country. Such a person is smart enough to know that it would be political suicide to tell the truth. Thus, to get elected and then begin to implement the hidden agenda he must pose as someone he is not.
Obama stated on dozens of occasions that "if you like your current healthcare plan, you can keep it, period. If you like your current doctor, you can keep him, period."
Note that he did not say that if your current plan meets the approval of the administration you will get to keep it. Obama provided no qualifiers to that promise. He said if you, the citizen, like your plan and your doctor, you can keep them with no strings attached, no qualifiers, period.
Yet now that the infamous Obamacare scheme has been unleashed, the public has become all too painfully aware that Obama meant none of it and knew full well for at least three years that when his plan was implemented millions of Americans who want to keep their plans and their doctors will be fresh out of luck.
But Obama has an excuse for that. It involves passing the buck and letting someone or something else take the blame. He claims that it is the fault of the greedy insurance companies.
False. The insurance companies would not be dropping persons from their healthcare plans were it not for Obamacare, which mandates, by law, that only three types of plans can be offered, all dictated to them by the federal government -- bronze, silver, or gold.
In short, the insurance companies drop customers because the Obamacare law has made it illegal for them to offer their most popular current plans.
Then, as with any pathological liar, a new tier of lies must be placed on top of the previous set of lies. Obama and his lemmings claim that their plans are better than the ones from which Americans are being dropped.
How? How do they get away with such outrageous claims that directly fly in the face of truth?
We have heard from multimillions of Americans that they cannot afford Obamacare plans because the monthly premiums are too high and the out of pocket deductibles are prohibitive. All of this is due directly to the terms of the Affordable Care Act.
Thus, not only did the Obama machine lie about keeping your doctor and your current insurance plan, they are now weaving even more lies about the nature of the coverage provided by the Obamacare law. And they refuse to accept responsibility for their actions, although those actions led directly to multimillions of Americans being dropped from their current plans against their will.
It would be a colossal mistake for Obama, Valerie Jarrett, Harry Reid, and others to underestimate the depth and intensity of the anger and rage that exist in the American heartland over these issues. The animosity is so thick you can cut it with a knife, and rightly so.
Americans are now seeing up close and personal the wreckage created by this administration, and it is hitting them directly in their pocketbooks. It would be sheer madness to believe that many in Washington are not going to pay a heavy price for this deliberate deception.
