Gay activist and poet Judy Grahn has been nominated for the 2013 USA Book of the Year Award according to a press release by Sofia University on August 27. Grahn, who is a professor at Sofia University, is the author of "A Simple Revolution: The Making of an Activist Poet". The book has been nominated because it chronicles Grahn's life growing up in New Mexico and follows her through the path of self-discovery as she became known as one of the founders of lesbian-feminism.
As one of the most influential figures in the gay women's liberation movement, Grahn instilled a new way of living for women as the book journeys the cultural shifts brought about by the women's and gay rights movents of the 1960s and 1970s. Within her own inspirational and spiritual guidance, Grahn has earned herself as a trailblazer.
