After dining at The Stingray Cafe in New Bern, North Carolina, Shawnee and Ariel McPhail, a legally married lesbian couple, says they were given a letter by the owner as they were exiting the establishment. The letter itself condemns homosexuality, and asks the women to reconsider their lives.
The letter said the following:
God said in the last days that man and woman , would be lover of self, more then the lover of God.
That man and woman would have unnatural effection for one another. Then the coming of the son of man who is Jesus. So please look at your life see how it hurt everyone around your. and ask the lord to open your eye before it to late.
The Love of Christ
P.S. my daughter also was gay. it. destroy her Life and my grandson.
When the store owner, Ed McGovern, was confronted by wcti12.com he confirmed that he did indeed send the letter. He claims that he sent it "out of love" and also boasts to have given other lesbian couples similar messages. When asked why he gave the letter, he said it was because he saw the couple kissing outside. The McPhail's deny they were kissing, but even if they were...so what? Shawnee McPahil said, "..if I did kiss my wife in public, what married couple would you go to and say, 'how dare you. You cannot hold hands and you cannot kiss in public therefore you deserve my judgment."
