Announced today by Girlie Media, musician Les Claypool has taken the hit song, "Man in the Box" from the grunge-rock band, Alice in Chains who helped cultivate the staple of '90s hard rock. Up until now, no musician has attempted to cover this pivotal rock song. The cover Claypool has developed uses "rootsy, banjo-filled rendition of the track that turns the original version on its head." Listen to and share it via SPIN HERE.
The single is available from Les's upcoming album, Four Foot Shack, releasing on February 4th via ATO Records. The root of the album lies in it's authenticity to sound as close to a live album as much as possible. Says Les, "it was very live. In fact, it was a little difficult, with all the bleed of the stomping and the bass and the vocals. Every now and again you can hear the studio refrigerator come on or the dog barking at something outside in the background. Once it was there, you had to kind of leave it."
