Mr. Spock, the beloved Vulcan from Star Trek fame, has friends and family worried about his health after recent public appearances by Leonard Nimoy have seen him looking gaunt, frail and needing wheel chair and oxygen.

The 82 year old Nimoy is best known for his role as Mr. Spock in the Star Trek series which ran from 1966-1969 and years later several movies which saw his character die in "Star Trek II The Wrath of Kahn" which also starred Ricardo Montalban.

Though Star Trek was what catapulted Nimoy to fame his career on TV and movies includes appearances and starring roles on Sea Hunt, Dragnet, Mission Impossible and lending his voice to various animated TV series and movies including The Simpsons.

Nimoy is a life-long recovering alcoholic saying that he used alcohol quite often during his time on Star Trek and he eventually went to rehab to help him battle the addiction.

Outside of acting Nimoy has also directed and written two autobiographies titled "I am not Spock" in 1975 and then "I am Spock" in 1995.

Nimoy's health has been a concern in recent months and there are fears that he is in a slow decline and though no major illness has been discussed those close to him say his body is just "giving up."
