Leonard Cohen has been busy working on a new album, with a little help from family.
According to an article posted today (10/13/11) on BBC.com, the legendary Canadian singer-songwriter is preparing his 1st studio release since 2004’s Dear Heather, and has recruited the help of son Adam Cohen, solo singer-songwriter and frontman for Montreal rockers Low Millions, to assist him.
"I was asked in some consultant capacity on a few occasions and I'm very happy to listen to what's being created and be asked for my opinions,” Adam told BBC.
The 39-year old Montreal born musician, who recently released a solo album, Like A Man, denied any musical collaborations with his world famous father, saying, “I would love to make music with my father and I have in a private way, but as for a public way he really doesn't need my help or contribution."
Set for release later this year, Sony has released few details about the as yet untitled album, but it could feature songs premiered during the multi-award winning 77-year old’s highly successful 2008-2010 world comeback tour, which includes “Lullaby,” “The Darkness,” “Feels So Good” and “Born In Chains.”
Earlier this year, the Grammy Award winning Cohen Sr. received the Glenn Gould Prize and Spain's Prince of Asturias Award.
Did you know? In February 2010, Leonard Cohen had to postpone his tour of Europe by 6 months while recovering from a back injury
