What does it take to be the “#1 sports bar in Los Angeles?” Leo’s All-Star Sports Bar & Grill in La Crescenta has been voted #1 by local publications, and earns the title by focusing on the essentials. A truly great sports bar has tasty appetizers, cold beer, cheerful service and televisions as far as the eye can see. Leo’s, the small bar hidden in the hills north of Glendale, scores a perfect 10 on each one.
Leo’s is not a huge place, but the setup is perfect. The long bar stretches across nearly the entire floor, and over 20 televisions sport the walls. Everywhere you look, there’s games on from baseball to local field hockey. There are plenty of tables and an open area behind the bar, so you never feel crowded.
The service comes smiling and the beers come tall. While there is little more you can ask for at a bar, the menu backs up the service nicely. Sporting a few spicier choices, from the Fried Onion Scoops to the Ahi Taquitos, there are options for any picky eater. They even have a special selection of Raspberry Habañero items for those with more adventurous taste buds.
So while Leo’s has its basics covered, what makes it special is the “local bar” feel. From Tijuana Tuesday to Car Nights and even just the attitudes of the bartenders and waitresses, Leo’s does everything it can to make you feel like a regular. They even feed your competitive nature with Trivia Nights, Rock Band Thursday and Beer Pong, keeping the bar alive whether it’s Monday Night Football or Wednesday Night Tennis.
Overall, Leo’s isn’t the biggest or grandest sports bar in the world, but it scores a perfect game where it counts.
