Lenny Kravitz, Scott set for NAACP Image Award performances

Lenny Kravitz has just been confirmed as one of two performers set to take the stage at the 43rd NAACP Image Awards. Confirmed Tuesday, Kravitz will be joined by Jill Scott.

Slated to air Live! from Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium Friday, February 17, the NAACP Image Awards celebrate the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film, and also honors individuals or groups who promote social justice through creative endeavors.

Kravitz joins the line up following the release of "Black and White America," his ninth studio album. Led by the single "Stand," the album was released in August.

Jill Scott, a leading nominee with four nominations overall, joins the line up following the release of her Billboard 200 chart-topping album "The Light of The Sun". Also released last summer, the album features songs like "So In Love" and "Hear My Call".

In related news, organizers have also announced that George Lucas will receive the Vanguard Award. "Presented to a person whose groundbreaking work increases understanding and awareness of racial and social issues," according to the NAACP, Lucas joins previous honorees including Wyclef Jean, Tyler Perry, and Steven Spielberg.

The 43rd NAACP Image Awards air Friday, February 17 at 8pm (NBC).
