Lenny Harris: Body found in well in Maryland may be local activist

On Thursday, police have found a body in a well in Fort Washington, Maryland, after receiving a tip from an anonymous caller.  Police do not know who the remains belong to, but there is some speculation the body may belong to Lenny Harris, according to myfoxdc news.

Lenwood "Lenny" Harris, 53, is a local well-known community activist in Alexandria, Virginia.  On September 21, Lenny left the Charles Houston Recreation Center in Old Town, where he regularly tutored children,  to meet someone.  He has not been seen since.

A few days later, Lenny's cell phone was found on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and his car was found on October 11, in Maryland.

Police lowered a camera into the 20-foot well off Old Fort Road located on an abandoned piece of property in Fort Washington, and confirmed that there was a body there.

Police have spent the last two days evaluating the process of removing the remains, as they are concerned the wall may collapse.  They also determined if there were any underground utilities.

On Saturday, authorities will begin the process of excavation and are estimating they will be able to remove the body by Sunday evening.

Prince George's County Police recruits have been doing a grid search looking for any possible evidence in what is still being called a "death investigation."
