Lemons: daily benefits for your health

As we sleep each night, the body continues to work and help itself with the four R's: rebalance, repair, restore, and revitalize. Why? So we can have enough energy to survive the next day. However, due to the environmental toxins we endure daily, the body quickly goes into toxic overdrive. There is one simple thing you can do every morning to help rid the body of disease, build health, and make you glow beautifully. What is it? Drink warm lemon water.

It’s not new knowledge that lemons contain health-promoting benefits. For centuries, it’s been known that lemons contain strong antibacterial, antiviral, and immune-boosting components. (One example would be all those cough drops and cold medicines you see in the drugstore that contain lemon.)

What’s in lemons that make them so beneficial? Lemons contain citric acid, magnesium, bioflavonoids, vitamin C, pectin, calcium, and limonene. These components help supercharge the body’s immunity to fight infection.

Balance pH: Lemon juice helps flush unwanted materials and toxins left over from the digestive process. Due to its atomic composition, lemons are great at breaking down material and encouraging the liver to produce bile; this can be helpful for heartburn, indigestion, and bloating.

Improve Digestion: Lemons are known to be acidic on their own, but in the body, lemons are an alkaline. Warm lemon water helps reduce overall acidity in the body, drawing uric acid from the joints. This aids in the reduction of pain and inflammation many people feel.

Boost Energy and Improve Mood: Are you often lethargic and/or cranky? A glass of lemon and water may help. Lemons promote clear thinking, as well as help reduce anxiety and depression. Not only that, the scent alone of a lemon can improve mood and elevate energy levels.
