"Lemonade Stand" is a collection of Kasey's recent work representing love for life. Not just making do with the life she was given, but using it as an opportunity to do amazing things and share them with the world. The show includes 1EG's (One-Eyed Girls), a series of distorted, but sexy females originally created to cope with the insecurities of what gravity and time has done to her body and mind after 13 years of sitting in a 4-wheeled monstrosity. Each one is individually designed and painted to evoke confidence and bring life to something different and beautiful! On the more playful side, Kaotic Kritters, a series of cartoony little characters each telling a story through their unique personalities, will make an appearance. From a world of their own, they are full of life and love. Creating these whimsical characters are a blissful escape from reality.
Here is a little background about Kaseys story of struggle, passion and triumph
In 2000 Kasey was fourteen years old when an unexpected and unpredictable AVM on her spinal cord took away the use of her legs. She has loved art since she was teeny tiny, but developed a great passion for it as she got older. Once she became paralyzed and realized art was a therapeutic and effective outlet, it pushed her to create more and use art on a different level than many artists. As the most significant form of venting and dealing with life as a paraplegic, art has become her sanity, especially during unbearable moments. In the past, much of her personal work turned out to be a bit bizarre with a touch of darkness based on the thoughts and feelings of living with a disability that she couldn’t otherwise express, while nowadays her work mainly focuses on beauty or light-hearted nonsense. Once Kasey accepted and even started to embrace the whole disability thing, she stopped needing to have ALL her work focusing on those ideas, so Kasey started toying with lighter subjects and got more playful.
